I love, love, love this job. I really do. I want to be doing it 24/7, updating the site so it’s more than ready to launch, making new masks and mini hats and getting excited when I come up with a new idea or creation. There is, however, one little thing that is getting in the way… ‘Work’, and juggling my full time j0b, with the new job I really want to be doing instead.
Yes, like many other people who launch a new website, they often have full time jobs going at the same time, and I am no different. Presently, and for the last 12 years, I have been a specialist in Stained Glass (mainly church restoration as well as private commissions) and although I love my work, my transition into mask and hat making was based on my need to be creative. Most people think that my present job is hugely creative, but alas, it is far from it. Also, being self-employed, it has the pitfalls of late nights and ‘what are weekends?’ hounding it. Yet making my masks and hats, I have quite happily sat down till the early hours of the morning, or the whole of the weekend, consumed in threading tiny beads onto wires or glueing individual diamantes onto the edge of a mask and I don’t ever resent it, not one bit.
For now, it seems that I am going to get so good at juggling, that I will soon be able to perform in a circus.
